What is beta-caryophyllene (BCP)?

Beta-Caryophyllene (BCP) is a common terpene found over 1,000 plants & herbs. Many are familiar food plants, like basil, cloves, oregano, rosemary, allspice and hops. Researchers are showing that beta-caryophyllene provides major benefits in helping with depression, anxiety, PTSD, insomnia, sleep disorders and even addiction. Where does it come from?

At least 30 plants have high concentrations of BCP. The main source for it is hops. cloves, or copaiba which is a rainforest tree from South America. Hemp contains only trace amounts of BCP.
